We welcome you to our home away from home retreat space which is nestled in the heart of the traditional territory of the Ts’uubaa-asatx Nation. Surrounded by nature and the healing waters of Lake Cowichan we have created a sacred sanctuary for transformation. A space to refresh your body, mind, heart and soul. In the retreat space we will journey with Indigenous facilitators and Elders to reconnect to your authentic self.

Spring is the time of year to dust off the winter stale energy and rejuvenate yourself. This spring cleanse looks at how to energize your body, mind, emotions and spirit. Traditionally cleansing in the Coast Salish territory was done with what we ate, drank, connecting in nature and prayer. Journey with us to reconnect with self.

Grievers Journey is 2 ½ days, in-depth, active and experiential workshop. We found this format to be most productive and effective particularly when working with participants who are in grieving and in need to seek a safe place to express their grief.

As women, colonization has had a devastating impact on our boundaries and self-worth. This program looks at where we’ve come from, to determine where we are going. As Indigenous women we have the historical impact of hurt and pain. Now we can choose to break the cycle and reconnect to who we are, who we are meant to be, and how to get there with gentle strength and compassion.

Retreat Summary

National Indigenous Peoples Day and Summer solstice is the perfect time to reconnect to your spirit. With the busy hustle and bustle of everyday life and the “never ending to-do list” we can forget to connect within. This workshop focuses on taking a break from social media, our list of to-do and honours our spirit. Reflective time to rediscover your core self, break out of restricting patterns of fear, self-limiting beliefs, and start living from a space of love, authenticity, freedom, and abundance.

Our retreat location is a 25 minute drive from Duncan BC. Nestled on the Ts’uubaa-asatx Nation traditional territory in the quiet town of Lake Cowichan, between the forested trails and pristine beach lake. Our location is a 10-minute walk to shops, food, and convenience stores. You get the sense of connecting to nature and all the essentials.

Retreat Facilitators

Lyla Harman, Peye’tunaat, from Quw’utsun Tribes is the owner/operator of the Cedar Wellness Centre. Lyla values the connection and healing that occurs while working with other Indigenous women. She has her RSW/MSW and is a First Nations Health Authority Mental Health Provider. Her passion is to support Coast Salish communities healing from trauma using the Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy as a trauma-informed approach. In January 2018, Lyla opened Cedar Wellness Counselling and Consulting, a private practice based on growth, wisdom, and new possibilities. She challenges herself to continue her own healing so she can share this with those she works with. Lyla lives and works in Duncan, BC and enjoys spending time in nature with her family. She continues to decolonize herself by learning her traditional Hul’q’umi’num’ language, songs, and teachings from the Quw’utsun Elders.

Victor Nowoselski’s experiences include 34 years of personal recovery from alcohol and drugs, and 24 years of working as a professional in the field of mental health wellness. He has worked primarily with First Nation community members and the underprivileged population. Some of his experiences include outreach at street level, community crisis response, counseling, and facilitating group therapy sessions with incarcerated men.
As a counsellor and workshop facilitator, he has done variety of workshops and presentations. Within this span of time he has worked with many organizations, agencies, and support services that have provided a wide cross-section of services to a variety of community members.
